Pillsbury & Coleman partner, Ryan Opgenorth, successfully resolved three claims against three separate insurance companies arising out of damages to a resort caused by a recent California wildfire. Over the course of three days, Ryan and his team were able to secure two 7-figure settlements and one 8-figure settlement on behalf of their client. The settlements came with trial only a month away in a hotly contested case involving 10+ depositions, over a million pages of documents, and significant law and motion practice.
Each of the insurers were strident in their position that no additional benefits were owed under their respective policies. So much so that they tried to overturn the Trial Court’s orders through writs of appeal, which were ultimately unsuccessful. Through persistence and exceptional lawyering, Ryan and his team pushed back against the insurers’ position and recovered withheld policy benefits. Justice was finally achieved for the client who had gone without these insurance benefits for nearly three-years.
